Product Description
Common useThis anti-tuberculosis medication has a bacteriostatic effect (suppress bacterial protein synthesis) and depress growth and propagation of tuberculosis mycobacteria at intracellular and extracellular location. Trecator-SC enhances phagocytosis at the center of tuberculosis inflammation which facilitates its resolution. Trecator-Sc may be used against Leprosy (Hansen's disease).
Dosage and directions
Your individual dose depends on your condition, age, weight and should be administered by your doctor. Take with a big glass of water with or without food. Taking of Trecator-SC with food may decrease upset of stomach. Continue treatment even if your symptoms disappeared and you feel fine as infection may not be completely treated in your organism. Stop taking this drug only by recommendation of your doctor.
Precautions
Before to take this medication notify your doctor about all drugs and herbal products you are taking, if you have any allergy, if you are pregnant or are going to become pregnant, breastfeeding.
Contraindications
Trecator-SC is contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment, in those who are hypersensitive to the drug, pregnant. Cautiousness is required when Trecator-SC is prescribed for patients with diabetes and epilepsy.
Possible side effect
Besides symptoms of allergy such as hives, rash, swelling of tongue and face. Trecator-SC may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, gas in bowels, jaundice, loss of appetite, stomatitis, peripheral neuritis, confusion, mental depression, clumsiness or unsteadiness, numbness, tingling, burning, or pain in hands and feet, disorders of menstrual cycle and impotence. If you experience serous and persisting side effects listed above notify your doctor as my may need immediate medical hep.
Drug interaction
Interaction is possible between Trecator-SC, cycloserine and isoniazid. Drowsiness effect of this drug is aggravated by sedatives, tranquilizers, drugs for sleep, narcotic pain relievers, psychiatric medications (chlorpromazine), certain antidepressants (amitriptyline), certain antihistamines (diphenhydramine), muscle relaxants, anti- seizure medications especially in patients having neurological and psychotic disorders in history. Co-administration with other anti-tuberculosis drugs increases risk of seizures.
Missed dose
If you missed a dose take it as soon as you remember, if it is almost time of your next dose just skip it and return to your dosing schedule. Never double dose this medication.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose for this medication are unknown. If you suppose that you exceeded dosage of Trecator-SC seek immediate medical attention.
Storage
Store at room temperature between 59-77 F (15-25 C) away from light and moisture, kids and pets.
